List of Pixel 3 issues:

The pixel 3 phones have been particularly affected by issues. Many user reported problems only a few weeks after launch. Bigger problems came after a year or so, whereas at the beginning it was more like smaller problems like microphone malfunction, or software issues.

Most common problems with Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL:

Pixel 3 rear camera issue:

The rear camera of the pixel 3 starting to shake and unable to focus correctly. A lot of users reported this problem, and Google did not acknowledge it yet, and I’m not sure they will ever do. In case of a pixel 3 class action, Google will most likely accept a deal to settle the case, without taking responsibility for the problem(s).

Pixel 3 battery drain:

The battery drain problem from the Pixel 3 only started recently, after a year or so of usage and became more and more problematic as users reach the 2 years mark. The battery quickly loose charge and does not event last a day anymore. Sometime users need to charge their phone twice a day. Pixel batteries are often a concern as you can read below another battery related problem, the swelling or expansion of the battery.

Pixel 3 battery expansion / swelling:

Some users have found the back of their Pixel 3 phones lifting outward and started to see the battery from the side as this post on Reddit,

Other Pixel 3 issues:

Pixel 3 boot looping

A well know problem from android user, and especially pixel users, some phones started to boot and reboot in a infinite loop after an update. One solution to this problem is to recover the phone using the “Recovery Mode” by pressing the power button and the volume down button at the same time, until it the phone boots.

Has Google fixed the Pixel 3 issues?

While most of the smaller issues from the beginning have been fixed by security updates or device replacement (via RMA), there are still a few big matters that seems to have no solution. Google does not seem to hear any of the users having the rear camera shaking & focusing problem for example. Many reported to have reached the Google customer support but no proper solution were given once the warranty was over, even if it clearly looks like a defect.

A user have been lucky enough on Reddit, as he managed to get a Pixel 3 replacement after warranty, once he reached the Top tier support and after inquired Assurant. You can read his story here.

Is there a class action for the Pixel 3 ?

It most likely will happen. Indeed, lawyer company Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP (CSK&D) started a class action investigation regarding the two main issues described as “Rear Camera issue” and “Battery Drain”.

If you are experiencing such issues with your Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL phone, you can register on the Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP (CSK&D) website. Just fill in the form with your details and provide some information about the problem you are experiencing.

I believe that if many people filled that form, CSK&D will probably move forward to the next step for the class action.
