Google will launch two versions of the Pixel 6: The Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. And they are coming in October 2021. Google recently announced and launched the Pixel 5a in August 2021.
A whole new design, with a huge camera bump, and a homemade chip (Tensor Chip) will make this Pixel 6 series a lot more expensive that the previous generation of Pixel 5.
The NEW camera module (finally!) will bring a lot of new potential. The latest Android 12 beta leaked some information about the camera of the new pixel 6 phones, and it seems to be Samsung’s 50MPX Isocell GN1 sensor.
Each Pixel 6 will come in three colors:
- Kinda Coral, Sorta Seafoam and Stormy black for the Pixel 6.
- Sorta Sunny, Cloudy White, and Stormy black for the Pixel 6 Pro.
Android 12 will bring a reimagined interface (Material You) and the beta already show a slick design.

Flickering display
The most reported problem on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have been the flickering display when shutting down. This result of a small residual light when turning off the Pixel 6.

Network Issue on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro
A lot of users have reported network problems on their Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones since early December 2021. The cellular network cuts off at random and I can’t make phone calls, send text messages or call emergency services. Even on Wi-Fi, the network cuts off randomly and I can’t call anyone.
Google seems to be nasty as they removed any mention of the issue from their public tracker issue website.

Short battery cycle
Some users have reported a very short battery cycle. For some people, (including well known YouTuber) their Pixel 6 battery last not even a full day, with normal usage.
Fingerprint sensor
The fingerprint sensor (under the screen sensor) is slow and inconsistent. This is the first time Google use an “under the display” fingerprint sensor. It would be improved in the next series (Pixel 6a and Pixel 7).
Second hole punch
Some user had a nice surprise discovering their Pixel 6 or 6 pro had a second hole punch in the screen. Google seems to replace the defective units.

Wacky adaptative brightness
The adaptative brightness on the Pixel 6 behaves erratically. This problem also concern other Pixel phones, as users have reported similar behavior on their Pixel 5 and 5a.
Has Google fixed the Pixel 6 issues?
Some of the Pixel 6 issues have been fixed with Android software update, whereas other problem are hardware and Google is replacing some of the customers’ defecting units.
