Introducing the Google Pixel 8a: A mid-range wonder with top-notch features
The Google Pixel 8a, also known by the codename Akita, is expected to be released around mid-2024, during the 2024 Google I/O event. Despite some online speculations about Google discontinuing the Pixel 8a, there is hope that it will continue to bridge the gap between the A-Series and standard Pixel models, offering an alternative to the expensive Pixel Fold.
The Pixel 8a features a scaled-back Tensor G3 chipset with 8 GB of RAM and showcases a departure from the design of its predecessor, the Pixel 7a. It adopts an aggressively curved chassis and a full-width camera bar housing two rear-facing cameras. Notably, the Pixel 8a has thicker display bezels compared to both the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 7a. The prototype also includes brushed side rails and a glossy, presumably plastic, back panel.
If Google follows its usual release schedule, the Pixel 8a is expected to make its debut next spring during the I/O 2024 conference.
